What Is Moral Alignment?
Moral alignment is a popular system, originating in the game Dungeons & Dragons, that defines a character's moral and ethical stance. It's built on two axes, and the intersection of these axes gives rise to 9 different alignments.
The Two Axes
1. The Lawful – Chaotic axis: This shows how attached a person is to rules, authority, and order. Lawful types value rules and tradition; chaotic types prioritize freedom and personal conscience.
2. The Good – Evil axis: This shows a person's intentions toward others. Good types act with self-sacrifice and compassion; evil types put their own interests first; neutral types stand somewhere in between.
The 9 Alignments
Combining these two axes produces the following chart: Lawful Good, Neutral Good, Chaotic Good, Lawful Neutral, True Neutral, Chaotic Neutral, Lawful Evil, Neutral Evil, and Chaotic Evil. Each represents a different personality and set of values.
Note: Moral alignment is a fun personality framework, not a scientific classification. The 'evil' results are entirely for fun and do not judge your real character.
